Welcome Reception

19:00

The welcome reception will take place on Wednesday, October 8, starting at 7:00 PM in the magnificent Golden Hall of the Hotel Imperial. On this occasion, the prestigious ALAI European Author's Right Award for the best students' essays related to authors' rights, supported by GESAC, will also be presented. With a delightful musical program and a warm atmosphere, participants will have the opportunity not only to reconnect with old friends and colleagues but also to meet new ones, exchange ideas, and enjoy an inspiring evening in the elegant setting of the hotel. Expect a night filled with conversation, laughter, and good vibes – the perfect way to kick off this special event.

The atmosphere will be enriched by the Zagreb Cello Quartet.

The Zagreb Cello Quartet was founded in 2023 by four friends and cellists from different generations. Adam Chelfi, Petra Kušan, Tonko Marković and Smiljan Mrčela, driven by their love for the warm sound of the cello and chamber music, decided to create a new ensemble. Their repertoire places a special emphasis on works by Croatian composers and arrangers, with the aim of allowing the instrument — most akin to the human voice — to shine in an entirely new way.

The impressive Crystal Hall, with its high ceilings, grand chandeliers, and sea views, exudes the elegance of the Belle Époque era and has, over more than a century, hosted numerous balls, concerts, and diplomatic receptions. In this unique space, the combination of history and Mediterranean splendor creates the perfect backdrop for an evening of connection, networking, and the celebration of creativity and the legal profession. The gala dinner at Hotel Kvarner is sure to be one of the congress's unforgettable moments.

The gala dinner will also be an opportunity to present the updated WIPO guide, which will make its debut in the copyright sanctum.

At the gala dinner, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a performance by Elvis Stanić.

Elvis Stanić AIRes Collective is the latest musical project of Elvis Stanić, Croatia's most awarded jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist – a visionary who continually pushes the boundaries of musical creativity. Winner of no fewer than 33 Porin Awards and numerous international recognitions, Stanić once again fuses the seemingly incompatible: his distinctive jazz signature intertwined with accordion, tango, samba and bossa nova, creating a completely new musical journey.

He brings together an elite ensemble of the jazz scene: Alba Nacinovich (vocals), Goran Rukavina (bass), Leon Brenko (piano), and Žiga Kožar (drums) – musicians of rich experience and expressive interpretation, who effortlessly blend diverse genres into a dynamic and emotional musical whole.

AIRes Collective takes the audience through the streets of Paris, the dance halls of Buenos Aires, and the playful landscapes of Brazil, exploring the sensuality and freedom of Mediterranean and South American rhythms. Each composition tells a new story, enriched by extraordinary musicianship and the emotion that only a truly dedicated artist can convey. This elegant fusion of jazz, tango, samba, and musette is not just a concert – it is a journey across continents, emotions, and styles, performed by musicians who speak the universal language of great music.
